Education
Grounded in my work as both a poet and producer, my teaching philosophy is centered on creating environments that are intellectually rigorous, joyfully experimental, and deeply collaborative. Drawing from constructivist pedagogy, I believe students learn best through active participation and dialogue, where knowledge is co-created rather than imposed. I emphasize a Socratic seminar approach, fostering discussions that challenge assumptions, promote deep inquiry, and explore diverse perspectives. My goal is to cultivate spaces where students feel empowered to question and shape their world through their own creative voices.
At the core of my pedagogy is a commitment to accessibility and inclusivity. Inspired by Paulo Freire’s Pedagogy of the Oppressed, I see education as a liberatory practice—a shared process of discovery that dismantles hierarchies in and beyond the classroom. My curriculum development focuses on student-centered learning, designing programs that encourage personal exploration. Whether leading poetry workshops or interdisciplinary programs, I aim to create environments where experimentation and critical thinking thrive. My experience spans both traditional and non-traditional settings, from leading poetry workshops with The Poetry Society of New York to developing curricula for The Youth Poetry Festival with Teachers and Writers Collaborative.
